What style of wedding photography?
We are in the modern times and yes wedding photography has also evolved. Our parents had Traditional Wedding photography. This usually tends to be very posed, stand and look in the camera thank you. As much as it is very important to capture some important posed shots, modern wedding photographers, go with a more storytelling way of shooting now. To do this, the photographer has to be artistic, and have a creative eye to create images that are dynamic with an interesting composition similar to what you see on wedding blogs.
Most wedding photographers will digitally correct images for color and sharpness, this can also included some airbrushing, changing tones, black and white, sepia etc. Candid wedding photography works very well with this. There are many styles out there called many things, reportage, documentary, candid amongst others. I wont worry too much about the jargons, when you see what interests you and what you would like for your wedding you will know.
See more than one wedding photographer before you make your choice?
Viewing too many wedding vendors can definitely get you confused, but make sure you see more than one. It is best to arrange to meet them before the wedding day. Also make sure you see complete weddings. Any photographer can put together a wedding with their best work. This way you can check the consistency of their skill.
When visiting ask what will be covered on your wedding day and will the photographer be covering more than one wedding?
I personally think it is preferable to choose a photographer who covers only one wedding a day, your wedding. The benefit being that all his effort and attention will be with you and not on looking at a watch, having to rush to meet another weddings deadline. Some photographers will take on 2 or even 3 weddings in a day. How will they have time to do a professional job? What happens if you are number 2 on their list & they are stuck in traffic. Ask what is actually covered. Is photography at your home or place where you will get ready covered? What about the speeches, these look great when photographed in a reportage style.
Your photographer must have backup?
I have seen brand new cars broken down on the motorway. You can never predict when a mechanical product will fail. Your wedding photography must have a backup; equipment failure is not an acceptable excuse.
How much are wedding photography packages?
How long is a piece of string? The higher the wedding photography packages, the better the quality usually, however rule is not set in stone, you should aim to get good value for quality wedding photography. Good wedding photography is not by any means cheap, it’s a lot of work and if the photographer dedicates the time required to your wedding photos, they will want to be compensated for it. When should I book my photographer?
