As Wedding photographers, we come across mainly white wedding dresses than not!  Women have always dreamed about their wedding day from when they were young girls.  Prince charming whisking them away.  I often get brides telling me about their perfect wedding they have been dreaming of for years.  The wedding dress color of choice has always been white, well mostly.  Don’t you ever wonder, why women are so particular about white and the reasons behind this.
Strangely enough, white has not always been the color of choice.  Brides getting married in a white wedding dress hasn’t been around that long.  It is believed that wearing white indicates a woman’s virtue.  Typically you will find woman who had been married before, or who had kids outside of wedlock.  There couldn’t be more contrast with today’s bride.  Some brides have even got married in Black.  Yes, black wedding dress.Not surprisingly, the white wedding dress came from a place full of legends, and where tradition is important. the white wedding dress was started in the English Monarchy. Queen Victoria was the first “celebrity” that was looked up too, who wore a white wedding gown. Because of her, the popularity of white dresses has become a true tradition among women around the world.
The marriage of Albert of Saxe and Queen Victoria in 1840, was not surprising. The gown she wore though caused quite a stir. It was considered flamboyant and did not start the  white wedding gown tradition instantly. Many of the upper class women though, saw this as a unique fashion statement and had no issues in copying the Queen by marrying in white dresses.
A white wedding dress was also a way to show off.  Brides that were well off wore whitet.  It was a practice for the rich.  The poor surely couldn’t afford to get married in a wedding dress that couldn’t be cleaned.Only the wealthy and vain women insisted on being married in white. Most women still married in dresses of different colors and styles after Queen Victoria’s fashion statement. During the Edwardian times however, the white wedding dress gained popularity once more when Coco Chanel unleashed its brand new design….. a knee-length wedding gown, with a huge train in none other than white.

Couples very often ask, how much do wedding photographers charge?. Well how long is a piece of string? Photographers usually tend to charge according to thier experience and skillset. This does not however mean that wedding photographers that charge more are better photographers! London Wedding Photographers usually tend to be the priciest, but that does not have to be the case. Do you want to trust your wedding photography to a student? Students might be able to offer wedding photography cheaply or even sometimes for free. However photographing a wedding involves great skill and it will be silly to trust your wedding day to someone who is inexperienced, not unless your wedding photographs are not that important to you. Students may not also have the requied equipment to take photos in certain conditions, wedding photographers usually tend to have spare equipment as back up in case something goes wrong. Clearly you are better off with a professional Photographer that offers his services at great value.

A good way to cut cost of your wedding photography is to have him photograph the important parts of your wedding, the bridal preparation in the morning can be skipped if you are really on a budget. Get your photographer to start from the church up until you cut the cake, You can then get other photographers, i.e students and family members to photograph the rest of the wedding. Wedding photographers charge a lot for their time, So this is a fantastic way to save cost.

You could do this by having all the photographs done in one place or at one time (all the group shots before the ceremony, all the reception shots immediately after the ceremony), reducing the number of shots or making sure you have someone to get people in the right place at the time. This of course only works with quotes that are based on hours and not packages.

We always give our clients all their wedding photographs in high resolution on a DVD, please beware of cheap wedding photographers who want to charge addtional fees for dvds or prints, this might turn out to be a false economy

Buy the wedding album yourself
Many wedding photography packages include an album which is often heavily overpriced. By sourcing your own album, you can reduce this significantly.

Finding an album is easy as there are many online stores and department stores that stock beautiful wedding albums (at a fraction of the cost of photographers).

Create the album yourself
When you have your prints, put the album together yourself. It’s easy to lay down photos in an album and you can put them in the order you want. By doing this yourself, you are reducing the number of hours the photographer works and the materials they use, so you’ll reduce your costs significantly.

Get copies of all the guests’ shots
These days everyone uses digital cameras, which makes it easy to share and copy photos. Get your guests to send you their shots and you’ll end up with literally thousands of pictures to choose from, each at a slightly different angle.
